A hand-carved oak sign for a mobile sauna. The log from which the sign was made had been found by the customer in the forest, where the sapwood had rotted away over the years — making it ideal material for a sign.

Oak heartwood is one of the most durable materials available and is perfectly suited for outdoor signs. As a surface treatment, the sign was immersed in raw linseed oil to increase its rot resistance and reduce the risk of cracking. It was then finished with a coat of boiled linseed oil.
